Crisostomo: Turn of the Century Filipino Dining

May 1st is not only the Labor Day for our family. It is also the wedding anniversary of my parents. This year, we want to celebrate the first day of May in different way. We want to treat our mom in a restaurant we haven't tried. So, we decided to take our lunch at Crisostomo.

Crisostomo located at Nuvali, Sta. Rosa, Laguna is only one of the few of their branches. I really love the interiors of this restaurant. I love anything that is vintage or anything that have something to do with history. Everything was in line and mirrors what Philippines was during Spanish colonization. But I could say that it was pretty pricey to dine here.

*For the benefit of the doubt, Crisostomo is a character of El Filibusterismo. It was a novel preceded by Noli Me Tanghere that was written by the Philippines' National Hero, Jose Rizal.

It took us forever to choose from the menu. But after a long discussion, we finally end up with one of each kind from Vegetable, Pork and Seafood Menu. For our Vegetable, we ordered Pilosopong Pinakbet (Php 325). Assorted Native Vegetables with Lechon Kawali Chips. What makes this dish special is that the vegetables were fresh and the Lechon Kawali is soooo crispy.

Don Juan (Php 295) is their Liempo grilled Pork Ribs. My sister loves this (well, she's a meat eater). The meat is so tender and tasty. The thing that I liked in this dish is that it was grilled perfectly.

Salome's Secret (Php 295) is their Binusog na Pusit and glazzed with sweet sauce. We used to cook this at home but this one is better (hahaha). Don't forget that when you dine here at Crisostomo always order garlic rice (Php 65).

The diners. Me, my mom and my sister.

Kisses!
